The Best Bitcoin Apps Currently Available – What Are the Best Crypto Tools?

bitcoins app

Do your eyes glaze over like mine when someone in the office starts talking about crypto currencies? To me, it happens more than I’d personally prefer. God only knows how many times I found myself talking with friends about crypto currencies – breakfast, lunch, dinner, it doesn’t matter. If you’re reading this, I’m guessing you know the basics. Current two top currencies are Bitcoin and Ethereum and there are also those things called blockchain and mining calculators. If by any chance you’re confused just like I was, you’ll be happy to know there are dozens of apps out there to help even beginning cryptocurrency traders enter the world of trading with confidence. This doesn’t mean it’s easy, but why make it harder than it already is? But you can easily learn the basics with a few of the most useful apps I’ve found about how to set up and use Bitcoin wallets. There are many app reviews out there for this high-profile new currency, but this top 10 list caught my eye.

Best 10 Bitcoin Apps by AppGrooves

Some of the app I know, but there were a couple of unfamiliar to me in the list. So I decided to mix them up and provide my review of a couple of them.

1. Luno Bitcoin Wallet – Rating: 4.2, Downloads: 1M

Luno makes Bitcoin trading easy even for newbies with a unique Learning Portal and tons of in-app assistance. The best thing is you can easily track trends thanks to the price index feature and immediately buy or sell with the touch of a button on the same screen. I found this to be incredibly time-saving in comparison to some apps I used before. I also like the fact you can send and receive Bitcoin directly from others using the app thanks to the built-in Bitcoin and Ethereum wallet.

Although Luno is simple to use, the downside is it’s limited to bitcoin and ethereum. I was thinking of trying a couple of lesser-known currencies, but to be able to trade, I found out I have to find a different app. However, I did browse a couple of forums and found out that developers often update and are quite responsive. So definitely try it out and if you like it, don’t give up. Who knows what the next update might bring.

Pros: Simple user interface, in-app customer care, one-touch buy and sell platform
Cons: only supports Bitcoin and Ethereum, Instant Buy & Sell only available in some countries

Summary: An overall great trading app that might get even better with time

2. Delta – Rating: 4.7, Downloads: 100K

Ok, time to check the app number two. Delta is like a one-stop-shop for diversified crypto currency portfolio holders. I’d say it’s for more advanced traders but who knows, you just might like it even if you’re a beginner. It’s hard to say honestly. The app does have great at-a-glance options that include multiple ways to view your Bitcoin history, today’s trading prices, profits/losses for the last 24 hours and more useful stats for the serious investors. But there are a lot of features, so you might get lost if this is your first time. So I don’t just bash the app, I’ll say I like how you can link Delta tools to your favorite Bitcoin wallet – it makes trading more interactive.

The downside is some of its features are locked to premium users. So you might find yourself using the app just to realize you need that one tool that isn’t free. Now, to me, this isn’t a classic flaw. I mean, look at it like this. If you’re using the app, you’re here to earn money. And every business needs some investment to grow. So, it’s all up to you and what exactly you’re aiming for.

Pros: customizable price alerts, in-app customer support, daily profit/loss reports
Cons: Paid ‘Pro’ tier, more complicated tools may confuse beginning traders

Summary: Another powerhouse app that might be off-putting to beginners

3. Coinbase – Rating: 4.6, Downloads: 5M

The main Coinbase strength is probably the ability to store Bitcoin, ethereum, litecoin and all other currencies in separate wallets. Plus, they are fairly simple to navigate even for the novice cryptocurrency trader. Like every other app, you also get push notifications for price alerts, but what I like the most about Coinbase is the feeling of security. The secure vault plus the ability to disable your account remotely if needed all make it the perfect app for safe bitcoin storage. I might be a bit more paranoid when it comes to safety that other people, but I like stuff like cryptocurrencies to be as safe as possible.

I know some bitcoin traders have pointed out that Coinbase transaction fees are a little bit higher than others and it is true. But then again, that just might be the price we have to pay for all of our bank account numbers and various currencies to be secure. My paranoia aside, I’ll be honest and say the constant security options can be a bit overwhelming. So it all comes down to if you’re ready to pass all the security levels.

Pros: multiple currencies supported, high encryption level, ability to remotely disable account in case of stolen phone
Cons: higher transaction fees, multiple security features can be frustrating when in a hurry

Summary: Probably the most popular crypto app out there that has everything you need

Trading with Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies can seem like an entirely new world – because it is! But it doesn’t have to be any harder than trading with paper money once you understand all the ins and outs of the process. These great apps can help you become an expert Bitcoin trader in no time, even if you’re starting from scratch. If you know any other similar apps, do let me know. I’d love to check them out.
