Why You Need to Use Facebook Ads & Steps to Create Ad

facebook ads

If you’re selling any type of product or service and not using Facebook ads, you’re missing out on potential customers and ultimately, cold, hard cash. See, Facebook is a towering giant when it comes to social media, with almost 2 billion people actively using it.

Did you get that?

2 BILLION.

As a business owner, you’ve got to tap into that kind of population via marketing.

How?

Facebook Ads.

You, my dear, can leverage Facebook Ads as part of your marketing strategy, and good news is that it’s easy and affordable. Today, let’s discuss Facebook Ads marketing and how you can incorporate it into your digital marketing strategy, so you can get more traffic, customers, and revenue.

Facebook news feed ads

Have you ever been scrolling your Facebook feed and see an advertisement for a product or service? Perhaps it was Guru Gerry, advertising a webinar for his top 7 secrets to spiritual success. Or, it was a large department store offering 10% off everything in the store.

With billions of people being on Facebook everyday scrolling their newsfeed, it just makes sense to take advantage of getting your Facebook ad to show up on your target audience’s feed.

Learn about your customers

What’s great about Facebook Ads is that when you create an ad and launch it, Facebook collects data on those that are interacting with your ad. This allows you to get wonderful insight about your audience or customers. Why is this data important? Because it allows you to learn about your target audience and tweak your ad as necessary for more effective advertising. (And, more sales)

Before you begin

I know this is exciting, but hold your horses for a moment. Before we even get into how to create Facebook Ads, keep in mind that there’s some research for you to do before getting started. Your outcome will correlate with this research that you do up front, so don’t skimp.

What is it that you actually want to accomplish with the ad? Do you want more likes for your page? Do you want to increase your branding efforts? Do you want to sell more of a particular product? Get clear and know your objectives before you even begin.

How to Create a Facebook Advertisement

Step one: Set up a Facebook business page

If you don’t already have a Facebook business page, it’s time to set one up. Simply go to http://facebook.com/pages/create and pick the category that applies for you. Then, simply follow what the instructions tell you to do. It’s actually quite simple and user-friendly. Take the time to fill out your profile completely so that it represents you in a professional and engaging way. Oh, and choose pictures that will appeal to your audience, and make you look professional at the same time.

Step two: Create your strategy

ATTENTION: Do not skip the strategy step. If you do, your Ad will most likely flop and you’ll be kicking yourself for it. (And I’ll be saying, “I told you so!)

The first thing you can do is create some goals regarding your Facebook Ad. Keep in mind that you’re spending money on these ads, so you want to take them seriously and strategize. If you’re not sure how to do this, you always have the option to hire a social media marketing professional to assist you.

So, what kind of goals are you going for? Are you holding a webinar? Do you want registrants? Do you have a book you’re launching? Is your goal to get people to click through to your book landing page? Are you seeking to sell a particular product? Take the time to write down your goals for each Facebook Ad. Then, you’ll be able to start crafting the Ad knowing your goals.

Step three: Choose your objective and audience

The next step is to choose your objective for your Facebook ad. Facebook gives you various options here, including get more traffic or get more registrants for your event. You can also choose your target audience in regards to location, age, gender, languages, user interest, and behaviors. You can go as general or as targeted as you wish when it comes to your audience, and create custom audiences from your email list or mobile users.

Step four: Choose your budget wisely

You can choose to have a daily budget or a lifetime budget for your ad, but either way, you’ll know exactly how much you’re spending up front. What’s great about Facebook Ads is that Facebook will let you know your estimated daily reach in terms of people. Granted, it’s just an estimate but it can be helpful in determining how much money you want to spend.

Step five: Create your ad

Facebook will walk you through how to create your ad and you’ll have several options as to what it will look like. If you’re not sure, you can always do a Google search and look for sample Facebook ads to get an idea of how other people are creating their ads.

Be sure that your headline and copy will be of interest to people. You’ve got to “wow” them or they’re not even going to pay attention to your ad. Make it a compelling headline or use the “shock and awe” strategy. You want to get their attention and you want to get it fast.

You also get to choose how you want your Facebook Ad to be placed. Do you want it to show up on mobile or desktop news feed? Would you rather it be in the right column or an audience network?

If you follow all these steps, then you are ready to let Facebook know you’re ready to place your order. Simply hit the little green button that says,“place order” and you’re good to go. Facebook will review your ad and let it know if it is approved or if you need to make changes.

Don’t forget to analyze

Lastly, and most importantly, take the time to create a Facebook Ads report. Go to your ads manager and click on “reports.” You’ll be able to customize the metrics so that you can analyze your data however you wish. This will help you to know what’s working and what’s not, so you can make changes as necessary.

Now, if you’re not sure about all this and it feels overwhelming, keep in mind that you can hire a Pay Per Click Marketing Firm to assist you with your ads. There’s no sense wasting money if you’re not sure what you’re doing. There are professionals who know exactly what they’re doing and can get a good return on your investment.

And that’s what you want: A great return on your investment. Money spent on ads should actually increase your revenue; not take away.

Happy Facebook Ad Creating!
