What to Expect from the New Xiaomi Redmi 5A

Xiaomi is all set to introduce its first device this year in 2018. If reports are to be believed, then the company would be retailing its first launch as Redmi Note 5. The smartphone was launched in China last year, in the month of December. And while we are still not sure as to when it is going to be launched in India, let’s take a look into each of the Redmi 5A features individually –

Xiaomi Redmi 5A – An Overview

The new smartphone currently runs on the latest Android 7.1.2 Nougat and has a 5 inch HD IPS display. It has a 5 MP front-facing camera and a 13 MP rear camera with an LED flash. In the backend, the device is powered by 2 GB RAM and 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon 425 processor. It also comes with a 16GB internal storage that is expandable upto 128GB via microSD card. The device is powered by a Li-on 3,000 mAh battery and connective features include a Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, microUSB 2.0 port, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac.

The device is run on a 1.4 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 425 chipset that comes along with a 2GB RAM ensuring smooth sailing even while simultaneously working and playing games.

Unlike the Redmi 5, it is backed by a non-removable Li-Ion 3,000mAh battery.

  • Platform and Connectivity

There is an MIUI 9 wrapped under the operating system Android 7.1 Nougat. The device features multiple connectivity options such as – 4G, Bluetooth 4.1, microUSB 2.0 port, dual SIM support, and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac.

  • Storage and Camera

The device comes equipped with a 13 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front-facing unit. The LED flash equipped at the rear end is essential for shooting in low light conditions while the front facing camera is ideal for selfies and video calls.

The storage includes 16GB internal storage handset ship, which is expandable upto 128 GB.
